Auckland to Cape Reinga, New Zealand

We took the scenic route off the main highway just north of Whangarei to check out the lovely Tutukaka Coast. It is known for its rocky shores and white sand beaches, as well as the access point to the incredible diving off Poor Knights Marine Reserve. Even though it was starting to get dark with the sun dropping behind us, we had to stop for a look at beautiful Matapouri Beach. Select the photo below to see the other end of Matapouri bay.
